VINDICATION (RUFKM?!?)

HERES MY BLOG I LOST EARLIER, FROM NOV 29 2010:

Ok, so im back from the hospital after yesterdays game. Apparently my blood pressure bottomed out when the rams blew a 20 point lead in the fourth quarter. But in the ambulance my 'Football LIVE' app (youre welcome for the plug...) told me that we did in fact hold on to a three point victory. Ok, a vics a vic (just ask morris who exclaimed "we're the best in the NFC" after a 1 point comeback victory over a team 6-42 since 07') ok so the ambulance thing is fake, but my near heart attack wasnt. See Im best at home watching the game by myself or just my father (cuz he gets it). I have a little problem of screaming at my television and throwing of various rams laden clothing accessories. when an opposing drive happens in the final seconds that could change the game, i go downright bi-polar. I cant help it. I love this team so much and am so hellbent on winning i sacrifice my dignity at hand to show my support or disdain. I am a true FANatic.
But lets look at the awesomeness of this sundays game, aside from our 4th quarter defensive collapse.

1. Sam the Ram: Well the sexy pick of the 2010 draft is looking in fact like the brainiest one as well. This "rookie" is having a better season than half the veteren or young starter qbs could hope for within the next 5 years. He had a QB rating of about 112 on and threw for, i dunno what was it, 300 YARDS?! i guess thats an ok day on an NFL pitch....

2. Danario Alexander: DX!! Super Danario!! just a couple of the monikers the young Wideout from Mizzou has earned over his blinkinlgy short career. The only thing that kills me is that this kid would already be a bona fide star if it werent for his knee. But hey, we got him, and when hes healthy hes dangerous. 4 catches for 95 yards after just having surgery?! statement if i ever heard on. We keep this kid and amendola healthy, and we'll be having a double threat that'll be talked about in the same sentence and Bruce/Holt or Boldin/Fitzgerald.

3. Steven Jackson: now sir stevie is probably the nicest guy in Pro Football. Hre is an excellant athlete. Highly regarded as the best running back in the league but when i watch some of these other rbs from teams like, atlanta, Green bay, KC i cant help but wonder a few things. Now i highly doubt dancing classes were a pre requesite of the RB school of beatdown, but looks like stevie might have taken that elective. I cannot tell you the last time i saw that man put his head down and run full speed ahead. He ALWAYS cuts, bounces, skips, hops, and always ends up being swallowed. I have yet to see him bust off any tears for big yardage this year and this week against the LAST ranked team against the rush, he carried 17 times for 72 yards. Now i know saffold has this shoulder thing but comeon, this has been an issue for 3 years running. The last drive where all we did was run, we couldnt get 10 yards.....so Steven I love ya, but just lower it a goferit!!

4. Offense: 36 points, most in like 47 decades, since the young halfling found the elder scroll and pilgramed up the side of.... well nevermind. we got ANOTHER solid day out of bradford (is this kid ever gonna seriously disappoint?)
431 total yards
24 first downs
308 in the air and another
123 on the ground

take away that 20 point 4th quarter and things seem to be coming together.

Without bad there cannot be good so....

1. Defense: D,D,D,D.   I love those guys. DO NOT get me wrong. You have the Hoss' of Chris Long and James Hall. King Laurenitis (ahh-OOOHHH!! its from the movie 300 chk it out). Pro bowler Oshiomogho atogwe and ron bartell. So how is it that with all of these awesome players and the coach who masterminded the great wall that held off the Patriots passing onslaught of 2007 get beat like the purdue drum over the middle time and time again. That was the only reason orton was able to formulate any sort of attack at all.

2. Injuries: Are we gonna catch a freaking break or a lack thereof (barum bum). Illinois Mike makes a badass TD run after catch then hes out for potentially the rest of the year with another high ankle sprain. Alexanfers back but with our luck hes just gonna go out next week and xxxSHUT YO' MOUTHxxx leaving him out again. so as long as well all stay a little healthyish, we can still make a run at this thing

3. The Hard, unforgiving road: well at least one thing we havent seen consistently IN st.Louis this year has been bad football, theve just been playing it everywhere else. okok, i know like everyone of our losses add up the point differential and its like 2 but still, we are having an UNBELIEVEABLE time getting it done on the road, yesterdays laurel de-crowning in the 4th quarter was not only humbling, it was down-right scary. Say we ACTUALLY do make the playoffs, which will only be off the strength of clinching the NFL's bitch division, we will get a home game, you REALLY want to leave st.louis fans who youve worked so HARD to impress and win back with a sour taste in their mouth of what coulda woulda had it not been for that fourth quarter collapse?!

So, in conclusion (my favorite 5th paragraph opening), the rams have given us something to hope for in the long run, but have also given us something to enjoy right now...... A football team that doesnt totally, unequivocally, completly, and ubiquitosly SUCK DONKEY BALLS. of course for you niners fans that subjects always open for debate, and likewise.

RAMS CHARGE!!

the room of woah!

Ok so im a little pissed because i wrote this Awesomely long blog about yesterdays win and our playoff chances but apparently because i did it on another computer and saved it from the site on that terminal it must have consciously decided it was going to screw me out of a good piece. later, if i do get it back its called vindication and well nevernmind, arrrgghhh!!!. So you want to know whats cool ? its week 13, we have sole possession of the nfc west and go to arizona to play a weak team. Actually makes a cool picture like this ACTUALLY cool, istead of, "oh how sweet of them to make them feel like real football players, awww..."

now its....And starting at quarterback (cheers build),  nnnNNumber Eight (building further), SAAAAAAM BUH-RAAAAADDDDFOOOOORRRRDDDD!!!!

yeah, i took that. Actually im quite modest about my photography because im just really a point and shoot type a guy. I really need to do some heavy ready on lumiere physics but thats just another trade ill never master, just get lucky in from time to time.

you know whatever happens this season is a win. WE ACTUALLY MATTER. its not like being mathematically eliminated in week 9. Our superbowl this year would be to win the division, in my eyes. Ill tell you why....We have gone 6-42 over the past three seasons. We were in fact THE worst team in the league last year, like the lions before us. If we claim the nfc crown, even as limp fisted our division may be, we would be among the top 12 teams in the league. Im sure we are going to create alot of ire if we do in fact clinch, becuase i can tell you for a fact that there WILL be teams with better records that did not make it in (08 pats for example, awesome. )
Whatever happenes, this season has created a culture change. See we sit at 5-6, but weve won 4 home games (in a row, but then broken by falcons) . That means the FANS, the people who matter, have seen something in downtown they havent seen for a long while . GOOD FOOTBALL. If the situation was reversed and the rams were 4-2 on the road and only won once at home, i dont think we would be getting as excited as we are, not only are the rams better, but we're able to see it. my mancave is no longer the room of woe, but the room of woah!.
Now dont get me wrong, te rams arent perfect, in fact if the seahaws were 7-4 in stead of 5-6, i wouldnt even be considering the playoffs. Id just be playing for pride and as many touchdowns, cheers, and good things we can conjure up in 5 games. but now, now is a different time, and to tell you the truth, Im loving it.
this is sounding shockingly reminiscent of Mark Sanchez' rookie year, how the jets clinched a spot with a 9-7 record after coach rex ryan even thought they were eliminated to shock team after team until reaching the afc game and dropping to the colts. Now will that happen, probably not....

but what the hell would happen for st.louis football if it did.....

Game Report: Rams @ Broncos; 1st half

alright its the end of the first half and we are up 26-13. Now unfortuantely i am at work and i am checking my phones play by play and running back to the breakroom to get updates but what i can tell you is this. Ok 13 point lead at the half is AWESOME. whats going to be NOT AWESOME is if we blow that lead and lose yet again on the road. Now the broncs got up early 10-0 and half been exploiting our depleted backfield by getting a majority of thier yardage on over the middle passes....shocker. The rams offense sputtered at first but one thing that is definatetly going in our favor is Bradfords pretty accurate today, alexanders, back, got a score on a RAC by Illinois mike. Solid B effort for the 1st. 30 more min to go, LETS GET THIS WIN!!! (and not to mention a first place tie with a seattle loss)

4-6 and still in it (so far)

So it is week 12 and we are officially into the last quarter of the season. This is where berths are made and squandered. This is where we start developing the playoff picture. This is the beginning of the 4th quarter.
Unfortuantely for the Rams, Fourth quarter play isnt their forte this year. The Rams are 4-6, 1 game out of 1st in the nfc west, and not exactly in control of their destiny, but definately have a huge hand in it. A Rams win and a seahawks loss this weekend would put the rams into a 1st place tie going into week 13. This could be very interesting as far as the nfc west title is concerned seeing as 3 of the last 6 games are vs division opponents. Now if the rams have any hopes of playoffs this year (and they damn well should) they MUST win their division, finishing second behind any record the sehawks manage isnt going to earn them a wild card. I honestly cant sit here and believe that i am writing about a playoff picture potentially including my team. I mean a team who hasnt gone 500 in half a decade. A team who won literally a handful-plus-one of games in THREE years. Now were talking about playoffs? BUT....and that is a very big but. Im talking wisonsin "butt". not only do we need to win AT LEAST 4 games, we need to win AT LEAST two of them on the road, a feat we have yet to accomplish. I keep talking to defensive players in the clubhouse that give the broken record answer of "we'll get past it...winning on the road doesnt define us as a team" yada yada.
Boys, Ive got some nes for you. Winning on the road does however define your record, and you need at least an 8-8 to even think about dreaming about being in the playoffs. we have a good way to start things off on the final stretch. We play a less than spectacular denver club in denver and if we play our cards right we could be looking at a 1st place standing by this monday. We shall see....but the work doesnt stop there. We play the saints, then cardinals, then chiefs. if we dont take care of business, the only christmas present we might be recieving is preseason tickets for next august. LETS DO IT!!!

The Turkey bowl

So its thanksgiving eve, the night our dreams are adorned with grand visions of gluttony, and football. You see, nothing goes better with football than food (and beer). And Thanksgiving gives us just that. An entire day spent slothing about shouting ," BALL!! BALL!!" as if the sheer volume of your chant will penetrate the air to the very field  of which you watch and direct your team to the ball.  Thanksgiving is like football Christmas. The culmination of human happiness: family, food, and football. I dont exactly remember where the tradition started for myself. I seem to remember always stuffing my face with turkey and yams, and then screaming at the television for the cowboys to lose. I think even a couple years in there after the nfl expanded it from just 1 game a day that the rams played on thanksgiving.  Let me tell you three things that dont mix: myself, large quantities of food and alcohol, and the rams losing on a late field goal (suffice it to say i havent spoken to certain family members since....joking)
So whatever you decide to do today, be it eat eat eat and veg out in front of the boob tube for 6 hours, or just spend the holiday mingling nicely (or at least cordially) with your relatives, just remember what the holiday is all about. Family. (and football)

DONT PANIC JUST YET!

So the rams dropped another one...big deal. Okay, i cant be THAT cavalier about it. Yet dropping into the fetal position and wailing about our dwindling playoff hopes doesnt seem condusive either. Playoff hopes...theres a pair of words we havent used in a while. The only playoff hopes weve had in 6 years is every august before the preseason, we hope we can go to the playoffs. It is november 23, 2010 and the rams are 4-6. we have won more games so far that in the past two seasons, we have a rookie quarterback who is said to be THE BEST. not one of, or a good one, or a good draft pick. NO, THE BEST Quarterback. Now thats a bit of a stretch at this point but ill tell you one thing...ive been to 5 or 6 home games this season and that place is ON FIRE. rabid fans such as myself are craving an instant turnaround reminescent of the worst to first in 1999, but i dont think its gonna happen. You see, there was only one piece of the puzzle missing in 99'. Kurt warner. Now we already have that piece, we just need to find the right pieces to make this town proud again. I know we arent playing as well as we could be and its still frustrating to come so close only to be turned away, but hey....would you still want to be losing games before half time. this is going to be like taking a cross country vacay with the whole clan in the family truckster....we're on our way and we'll eventually get there...but we're gonna lose some luggage along the way.
Take care blue nation.

The Daily Bleat

.Hello all, this is the daily bleat. This is basically going to be a Colorful sports blog aimed at St.Louis area Professional sports, some college, and just whatever worth writing about. However, my main focus is the Rams.I chose the name "the daily bleat" because those bastards at espn already stole "Around the Horn" and apparently theres already a publication called the daily beat so i figured i make good use of the pun. A bleat, as you may or may not know, is the sound a sheep makes. It is also listed in the dictionary having a secondary meaning of "fooloish, complaining talk".
WHAT A GRAND NAME FOR A BLOG COVERING A TEAM WHO HAS GONE 6-42 OVER THE LAST THREE SEASONS.
but please dont let me be misleading, I LOVE THE ST.LOUIS RAMS. I was an adolescent when they came to town and they have been my team ever since, good or bad. Theres alot of good to be said, and plenty of bad. There will be rants, there will be praises. There will be jokes (many of them off-color), and there will be serious inquirys, but the main thing to remember here is that im not a hater. If you think im being too hard, Tell me!!! i love feedback. If you just want to troll about how the team with the best record is automatically going to the super bowl and i love eliteness, go elsewhere ( and on another note, everyone starts out at 0-0)
thanks for reading, and letting me know there really are fans still out there
